Math Stations

In math we have been busy learning about numbers 0-100. During math time we go to many different stations!
1. Games– we get to play cards like bump and war to practice our adding and subtracting skills.
2. Matheletics– it is a computer program that we get to play games to get better at knowing our numbers better.
3. Math Writing– we get to represent the number of the day in many different ways.
4. Making Numbers– we get to make numbers using ten rods and unit cubes.
5. Math Work- We complete different pages practicing the concepts that Mrs. Kyle taught us.
6. Guided Math- we work with Mrs. Kyle doing activities and practice learning math concepts.
Learning About Odd and Even Numbers
We have been learning a lot about odd and even numbers! My students love to sing the odd and even song! 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 Even Steven’s Really Great! 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 Odd Todd Is Super Kind! Today we also listened and viewed the Even Steven and Odd Todd story written by Kathryn Cristaldi. Throughout the video we paused it to count and find the odd and even numbers.
My students also love the Odd Todd and Even Steven song on Youtube. They have a lot of fun singing along and spotting the different numbers in the video.
Science and Math Groups
“We have been learning about push and pull” (Agent #2). “We know that motion can stop in motion, friction, and direction” (Agent #1). “Movement is slow or fast” (Agent #5). “We have been learning about motion” (Agent #11). “In science groups there are lots of different stations in Miss Farrow’s and Miss Stephanson’s classrooms” (Agent #1). “One station is the marble station” (Agent #12). “The other one is bubbles” (Agent #12). “We have been learning about 3D objects and 2D shapes” (Agent #14). “When you put a marble down a tube it can go fast or slow” (Agent #8). “If its a big ramp it goes faster because gravity pulls it down” (Agent #5). “If you push an object it will go away” (Agent #13). “If you pull the object it will come closer” (Agent #13). “Anything can move unless it is stuck to the ground” (Agent #18). “Two stations are bouncy balls and pin wheels” (Agent #2). “When you push a ball it rolls” (Agent #10). “A square has four vertices and four equal sides” (Agent #3). “A triangle has three sides and three vertices” (Agent #7).
We have been learning a lot about motion, 2D shapes, and 3D objects during stations and groups with the other grade two class!
Numbers
We have been learning about numbers from 0-100. We can represent numbers on ten frames. We can also make numbers using two part mats. Check out the pictures of us making numbers using base ten blocks! 🙂
Odd and Even Numbers

We have been learning about odd and even numbers. Odd and even numbers do not end the same. Odd numbers end with 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Even numbers end with 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8. We learned a song to teach us about odd and even numbers. The song is called Odd Todd and Even Steven.
